Event

Refresh Colombo is a tech get together held every month. The goal of Refresh Colombo is to impart tech knowledge among all without any discrimination.

We follow the ethos brought forth by the Open Source movement, Mozilla, Wikipedia and many others. So all Refresh Colombo gatherings are free.

Refresh Colombo is made real by a non-partisan, not-for-profit group of young IT professionals who want to let everybody with an interest in IT to gain knowledge; be it technology, business or inspiration to do better.

There are several broad objectives that we try to achieve in Refresh Colombo.

  • Help everybody further their knowledge on technology
  • Bridge the gap between tech thinking and business thinking
  • Share experiences and success stories to motivate the Sri Lankan youth
  • Build and empower a strong tech community within Sri Lanka

What we believe in is building ourselves as a community. By empowering people and letting ourselves stand united, we believe that we can take on challenges come our way in various forms and sizes.

What is done at Refresh Colombo?

What we do at Refresh Colombo is helping individuals to make that little extra effort to make good things great; go that extra mile to elongate success and make the tech community more knowledgeable.

Who’s coming for Refresh Colombo?
Refresh Colombo is a free event. There are zero restrictions on how to attend the event or who should attend the event. Everybody is welcome to participate and everybody is welcome to make suggestions or express their ideas. Since the event is free, all that takes someone is a bit of time investment. We try our best to ensure even that little investment brings rich dividends.

We actively encourage participation and we eagerly follow everything sent through #refreshcolombo on Twitter.

How did it all start?
Refresh Colombo is the realization of a long drawn out dream of several dedicated techies in Sri Lanka. It was a desire to replicate far successful events such as meetups, Barcamps and tech exhibitions  that usually dot the timeline of typical IT professional in the US and elsewhere. We don’t intend to copy the concept outright. What we try to do is adopt it in such a way that it suits the Sri Lankan way of thinking and needs.
